Grand Theft Auto VI is close enough now that the useful question is no longer whether it exists or when Rockstar will show more of it. We have an official release date, confirmed launch platforms, two trailers, an extended in-game presentation, named characters and a much clearer picture of the state of Leonida.
The hard part is separating Rockstar's actual announcements from the huge amount of GTA 6 speculation that appears around them.
As of September 16, 2026, Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
When does GTA 6 come out?
Rockstar currently lists November 19, 2026 as the release date for Grand Theft Auto VI.
That date appears on the official GTA VI website and is the date players should use instead of older search results that may still contain previous launch windows.
Rockstar's official page can be found here: Grand Theft Auto VI.
The important point is that GTA VI has already moved through multiple release windows during development. If you are reading an older article, a date in that article may simply no longer be current.
For a game this heavily searched, checking the publication date matters almost as much as checking the headline.
Which platforms are confirmed for GTA 6?
Rockstar currently lists:
- PlayStation 5
- Xbox Series X
- Xbox Series S
A PC version has not been officially announced at the time of writing.
That does not mean GTA VI will never come to PC. Rockstar has previously released major games on PC after their console launches. It does mean that any exact GTA 6 PC release date being circulated right now is speculation unless Rockstar announces it directly.
For FiveM players, the PC question is especially important because the current FiveM ecosystem is built around GTA V on PC.
Vice City is only part of the map
GTA VI returns to Vice City, but Rockstar is presenting Vice City as one part of the wider fictional state of Leonida.
Official material has shown dense urban areas, beaches, islands, wetlands, highways, industrial districts and more remote environments.
Rockstar has highlighted locations including Vice City, the Leonida Keys, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia, Grassrivers and Mount Kalaga National Park.
This wider structure may be one of the biggest differences between the new Vice City and the city players remember from Grand Theft Auto: Vice City.
The original Vice City was strongly defined by the city itself. GTA VI appears to be selling an entire state with very different communities and environments.
Who are Jason and Lucia?
The two central characters are Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos.
Rockstar's official material describes Jason as someone who grew up around criminals and grifters before spending time in the Army and later becoming involved with drug runners in the Keys.
Lucia comes out of Leonida Penitentiary determined to build a better life. Rockstar has made their relationship central to the story, with the pair becoming caught in a larger criminal conspiracy after a score goes wrong.
The important part is that GTA VI appears to be much more focused on one criminal partnership than GTA V's three-protagonist structure.
Trailer 2 gives the clearest look at their relationship
Rockstar released Trailer 2 on May 6, 2025.
The trailer shows much more of Jason and Lucia together, along with Vice City nightlife, weapons, robberies, vehicles, beaches and the wider culture of Leonida.
The extended look matters more than most trailer analysis
Rockstar later published Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look, a much longer presentation that the company says was captured from in-game footage on PlayStation 5.
That makes it more useful than trying to reverse-engineer the game from a few seconds of cinematic footage.
The presentation gives a better sense of world density, character detail, environments and how the finished game is being presented.
What does GTA 6 mean for FiveM players?
For the Fexmetrics audience, this is where GTA VI gets especially interesting.
GTA V did not only become one of the biggest games ever released. It became the foundation of an enormous custom multiplayer ecosystem built around FiveM, roleplay servers, custom scripts, resources, maps and communities.
That does not mean FiveM support for GTA VI is confirmed.
No official GTA VI FiveM platform has been announced.
The Cfx.re team is part of Rockstar Games, which makes the future of GTA roleplay more interesting than it was before the acquisition, but it is still important not to turn that relationship into an announcement that Rockstar has not made.
Until we have official information, GTA VI and the current FiveM ecosystem should be treated as separate products.
GTA V roleplay is not disappearing overnight
One of the strangest assumptions around GTA VI is that every GTA V roleplay server will suddenly become irrelevant on launch day.
That is unlikely to be how communities behave.
FiveM has years of scripts, frameworks, custom assets, server infrastructure and player communities behind it. Even if a future GTA VI roleplay platform appears, rebuilding that ecosystem would take time.
Existing server owners therefore still have a real market to operate in.
You can see that market through Fexmetrics Servers, explore the technical ecosystem through Resources, and follow overall FiveM and RedM activity through Global Metrics.
What is actually confirmed?
Here is the short version:
| Question | Confirmed answer |
|---|---|
| GTA 6 release date | November 19, 2026 |
| PlayStation 5 | Yes |
| Xbox Series X/S | Yes |
| PC | Not announced |
| Setting | Vice City and the state of Leonida |
| Main characters | Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos |
| GTA VI FiveM support | Not announced |
What should you ignore?
Be careful with headlines that claim exact information about:
- the PC release date
- GTA VI FiveM launch timing
- the full map size
- exact server support
- every interior being enterable
- a confirmed GTA VI Online release date
- script compatibility with GTA V
- FiveM resources automatically working in GTA VI
Some of those things may eventually happen. They are not confirmed simply because they sound plausible.
Final takeaway
GTA VI is scheduled for November 19, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Rockstar has shown enough of Jason, Lucia, Vice City and Leonida that the game is no longer a mystery, but the biggest PC and multiplayer questions are still open.
For the FiveM community, that uncertainty is part of what makes the next year interesting.
The smart approach is to follow Rockstar's announcements while continuing to measure the ecosystem that already exists today.
